Robot Arm Octopus It Like Original

Wednesday, July 6, 2011

Some researchers from the University of Reading to work together to create a robotic octopus that they hope can be used for underwater operations such as maintenance, marine rescue, and retrieval of objects such as black box recorders from the crashed plane.

It's only part of the octopus arm is doing and its development has been going well. Researchers have successfully created a robotic arm that resembles the original structure of the octopus arm muscles without the skeletal system, which they coat with a sucker to help the arm holding the objects.

There is still a long way before they make a complete robotic octopus, but from what they have generated so far, it looks quite realistic, although still weak for battery-powered octopus.
